The Green Table Project
The Clifton Place garden has a large variety of
vegetables, fruits, herbs, and delicious smelling
flowers all season long. The Green Table Project is a once a month
event held within the Clifton Place Community Garden
during the spring/summer harvest. We will invite local
chef's from restaurants throughout Bed-Stuy, Fort Greene,
Park Slope, and Crown Heights to come and prepare one dish
from their restaurants menu using the same herbs, vegetables, and
fruits from the garden. The food would then be served
to the community on a family style table were
additional information will be offered about the
Greenthumb NYC, Green Gorillas, and the opportunities of eating
locally and learning about the variety of food that is grown here in Brooklyn.
Live music from a DJ for the day event showcasing the power of
community when we work, eat, and dance together. We
would like to enroll you in the possibility of
participating within The Green Table Project.

Chefs in the kitchen
Locally grown vegetables and herbs in Brooklyn
Living in Bed Stuy I have realized that my neighborhood had a strong community vibe. They have annual summer block parties ( isn't that every block in Brooklyn?) When I decided to join the community garden I knew I wanted an opportunity to grow my own veggies and cook them at home in my kitchen. I was a bit apprehensive considering the issues with possible top soil in the hood (glass bottles and trash). Clifton Place garden has it's own compost soil as well as they plant in above ground boxes. It's a awesome feeling walking to the corner and knowing that within a week I will have fresh herbs, sweet and juicy veggies. If your ever in Bed Stuy come by the Clifton Place garden on Bedford and Clifton Place. We have Tomatoes, green beans, corn, basil, you name it if it's green we have it.
